Because of an accident involving some bugs, her senses are not back up to par yet. She has an elevated aural sensitivity and an enormously enhanced sense of smell. Her actual receptors are situated within the depressions at the tips of the ``antennae'' and are protected by a hard cartilaginous tissue that keeps her ``antennae'' rigid. Bio:
Torka was born 29 years ago, on Andor, to Thelev, D'renai, Ch'ren'tren and Axela Bythis. Torka also had four older brothers. From when she was able to be on her own, she did allot of wondering around, trying to find herself.
When Torka reached her age of majority, she faced the tough choice of weather to remain with her own cooperative or seek to join another cooperative and establish her own family line with them.
Some Andorians spend their early years alone, wandering from one city cluster to another, unable to decide on a Cooperative venture. She was often not at home although she loved her family very much. She decided to spend some time on a mission to find herself.
She loved collecting different types of plants ever since she could walk. All of the families books in the house would have one form of plant or another pressed in between the pages of them. In her room she had different types of soils and plants growing in different types of conditions and that made her room really cluttered. Torka's family often criticized her for the untidiness of her room but it never stopped her.
It was not long before Torka's family thought that a position on a Federation starship would be the ideal place to show off her talents.
After great thought, Torka decided to join Starfleet. She readied herself by finding homes for each and every plant she had acquired over the years. It was a difficult task, but it was one she vowed to complete before she left for Earth. Torka went though the training at Starfleet Academy and passed with flying colors. She was excited at a possible future in Starfleet. She requested posting on several ships, and got accepted on on the U.S.S. Tolkien. Torka was excited as she wanted to prove her abilities. She was assigned to the department she wanted, she was given the position of a Botanist in the Hydroponics Bay.
The Hydroponics Bay on the Tolkien occupied an entire deck, and Torka knew this was the place for her. Due to the incredible size of the Hydroponics Bay it seemed she almost lived there at times. Several years went by before Starfleet reassigned Bythis to a different location which was found to be more beneficial to her abilities.
