Bio:
Ion was the son of a miner and a colonist. His parents met while Susan visited her Mother on Mars. They met in a bar, and fell in love immediately. They married within 2 months, and Ion soon after. Only a week after Ion was born, Mark died in a tunnel explosion. Susan tried to live her life as normal, and moved around until Ion was 4. She decided to retire as she couldn't take the strain of raising a child and moving from planet to planet. Susan and Ion settled on Mars, in the midst of a thriving plantation, where in addition to his normal schooling, Ion's Mother guided the child in the honing and refinement of his natural Arturan telekinetic ability. Susan still lives here, helping the local people grow and tend to the plants. Ion grew up living on his own, as there was not many children his age. He channeled his lack of interaction into his sport and academic studies. He focused on being as fit and as smart as he could. Growing up in the plantation, his love for all things green emerged. He began to grow his own plants, and mix breed them to create new plants.
He even managed to grow a super vegetable which was able to feed and keep fed his Mother. He decided to join Starfleet Academy late, as late as possible. He had to make sure his Mother was able to take care of herself. He worked part-time during his stint at the Academy and sent half his wages back home. At the Academy, the tutors saw his expertise and directed him into Engineering.
Chandler excelled in this area and made a lot of friends. He was put on the fast-track scheme meant for students who could become Officers early.
Ion is a confident young man, who isn't overawed by authority. He has the knowledge of an older man, but still the experiences of a young man. He is prone to rash decisions, but is willing to pay the consequences for them. He makes friends easily, and is usually seen as a leader by those who are the same age or younger. This is due to the confident aura he exudes even in tricky situations.
