Bio: Born on Rigel VIII in the city of Thorvasskad to the Kolmik merchant family, young Thrig showed an early aptitude for mechanics and engineering. His Father, Handrel, was pleased to see the "Kolmik gene" was strong in his first-born son. His Mother, Maiya, taught her young son a few "extra curricular" activities. At the age of 10, he snuck onto one of his Uncle's cargo ships and hid in the engineering compartment. The ship was almost 2 centuries old and was badly over due for maintenance. The casing on the impulse drive was microfractured beyond tolerances, but had somehow held together up to this time. When the ship pulled into its next stop in orbit of Vulcan, the old casing just blew, partially crushing Thrig's right leg and severely injuring him.
While recovering at the Vulcan station, he studied the Vulcan language and Vulcan engineering (when he could sneak computer access time). Part of his physical therapy involved learning to walk and maneuver again. He studied the Vulcan armed combat technique with the Vulcan lirpato help with his rehab. After a year of rehab, he was allowed to depart Vulcan for the return trip to the Rigel system.
During this return trip, the ship encountered a phenomena that just days before had caused the final disappearance of part of the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-B and Captain James T. Kirk (the nexus). The ship was officially listed as missing in transit. Not long after his Mother gave birth to twins, Luna, a girl, and Zekk, a boy. 35 years later almost to the day, Thrig reappeared at his parents home, but found only his Mother and 4 siblings. During his absence, 2 more sisters were born, Genevive and Alyssa. His Father had left Rigel to search for his missing son years before and had also vanished into space. Still physically a child of 11, even though he was mentally 35 years older, Kolmik applied to the Orion spacers guild after the commotion of his return had died down. From the age of 13 to 14 he studied hard and had earned the 'title' of junior spacemen's apprentice, an enlisted grade. He was the youngest to achieve such a position. This lead to a rather uneventful 5 year cruise where he was the assistants assistant on a subsidized merchant freighter.
His next 4 year assignment was on a classic "tramp freighter", owned buy his Uncle Ferd, doing drudge runs along the heavily traveled core systems of the federation.
Nearing the end of this cruise, the ship was docking in Mars orbit for offloading, when the disastrous news the the Narendra III incident involving the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-C had occurred. Seeing his opportunity at last, and remembering his Uncle not letting him try any of his experiments on the cruise, the 23 year old Thrig resigned from the OSF and applied to Starfleet. Scoring high enough to enter service at the equivalent Starfleet enlisted rank of crewman apprentice, he applied for Starfleet's Engineering division. He was assigned to a light cruiser involved in deep space surveys. This mission lasted for almost 8 years, during which he improved engine efficiency to almost 102% and reduced fuel consumption to only 92%. Several minor modifications were done to the entire engineering complex to increase overall efficiency by 8%. For his services during the mission, he was promoted twice to the final rank of Petty Officer 2nd class, receiving numerous commendations. (And a few demerits too)
After the return to spacedock the crew noticed finally that, although 8 years had passed they had only aged 6 years. This lead to an exhaustive battery of tests for both the ship and the crew. The testing took 4 years to complete, during which time Kolmik made several friends among the science and medical communities. The testing had only the conclusion that the crew (and ship) now aged at 75% normal. (It was later determined that an unknown radiation field had reacted with the shields and bathed the crew with a phase altered Chronaton field)
After the tests, Kolmik requested and received a transfer to the Daystrom Data Institute to work on an improved experimental engineering computer core. This was his only 'major' failure. The design just would not work with current computer technology. He requested a transfer to the newly constructed Planitia Utopia shipyards orbiting Mars. Here he finally found happiness, helping to design and build some of the Federations newest Starships. After many rewarding years (and another promotion to PO1) (during which he was regularly tested for the aging anomaly), the wanderlust of his youth was reemerging. So he applied to Starfleet command school to get a commission and join a starship once again.
While in command school, Thrig was approached by a representative of Starfleet intelligence. He was offered the chance to not only become a commissioned officer, but additional training in intelligence services. Graduating command school with flying colors after the 2 year course, he then went to a Starfleet covert Ops station to learn intelligence skills. During which time it was determined that he was slowly aging slower and slower. After an exhaustive 3 year course covering everything from simple intelligence gathering to full blown covert Ops, Kolmik graduated with the rank of Ensign. He was given a modified Danube class runabout, MISSISSIPPI, for use as his personal transport. He paid to have it modified further, with several nonstandard upgrades.
Immediately he was transferred to Deep Space 12, a Cardassian Nor class station on the Cardassian border. Once there he proceeded to rebuild the intelligence department from a subsidiary of the strategic operations department to a full department in its own right. While doing so, he was promoted to Lieutenant junior grade.
After much work, Thrig headed to DS 9 to pick up his core intelligence personnel. After arriving and meeting his new crew, he took a short trip to Bajor to see his Sister. He wound up in a transporter accident, sending him to the mirror universe. After a harrowing 3 months in this "other worldly place", Thrig manages to use the small wormhole near Deep Space 12 to cross back over and come home. It was determined that Thrig was "assimilated" by the mirror universe "Bio-Borg". He remains under periodic medical observation.
Upon his return, Thrig took on the additional tasks of running the DeForrest Kelly Shipyard just 20 km off of Deep Space 12. He has also assumed the acting CO position on the U.S.S. HUBBLE, the dedicated tactical fleet scout currently under refit at the shipyard.
