Bio:

Born on Earth, father a teacher, mother a diplomatic attache. Educated on Earth and on Luna Station, qualified as a pilot at age 16, certified in Type Four through Eight shuttlecraft.

Raised by a Klingon nanny named K'Zahr as his parents were away frequently. Learned to speak Klingon at an early age. A musical aficionado, he maintains a lively interest in Earth classical music and history.

His parents died in an accident aboard U.S.S. Hydra when he was 22.

James entered university on a scholarship, completing first his bachelor's, and then his master's degrees, moving on to his doctorate after three years offworld, as a junior member of the Dakaran peace delegation. As the cultural liaison and consultant, James was instrumental in ensuring a smooth commencement in negotiations.

Another four years offworld saw him as a junior, and then senior, member of a major archaeological dig on Serapis Major.

Returning to Earth, James completed a post doctorate degree in cultural morphology, spending part of his time on Vulcan, where he participated in two archeological digs near Shi'Kahr. His dissertation on Surak's early works earned him an Associate Emeritus position at the Vulcan Academy.

At age thirty three, James was posted for one year to Deep Space Nine, seconded to the early Dominion / Federation diplomatic team. As a senior member of the liaison unit, James was involved in both peace negotiations, as well as helping draft an informal trade agreement.

He has twice been offered a commission by Starfleet and has twice declined, preferring to remain a free agent.

As he is well known to the Klingon High Council, the Romulan Triumvirate and to some small extent by the Dominion leadership, he is free to pursue his interests and studies.
