This is a list, by weekly entry, of the news since I took over Command of Deep Space 12 in February 2001. The early entries may be limited as the news was only scribbled down in the beginning. We did not begin detailed records until the middle of June of 2001.

News for previous years can be found by clicking on the appropriate year:

Thursday, 01/06/2005:

A distress call is received; an emergency meeting of all department heads is called for. An investigation of who sent the distress call is conducted.

Thursday, 01/13/2005:

The distress call is traced to the diplomatic ship Damocles. The ship is carrying diplomats of various races on their way to deal with the Tholians. Lt. Commander N’tran orders a rescue mission be mounted, with an 11 hour estimated time of arrival.

Thursday, 01/20/2005:

The Damocles is 2 light years away. The Captain decides that a rescue attempt must be made. The Phantom is ordered to launch for a rescue mission amid a rescue party is organized.

Thursday, 01/27/2005:

Lt. T’Mal organizes the rescue party. Lt. Commander N’tran takes command of the Phantom.

Thursday, 02/03/2005:

Investigation continues as the Phantom prepares for launch. Lt. McCormick and Lt. Commander N’tran explore the possibility of an attack on the Damocles.

Thursday, 02/10/2005:

The Phantom is launched with Lt. Commander N’tran as Commanding Officer.

Thursday, 02/17/2005:

The Phantom proceeds at warp speed towards the Damocles. Lt. Jolven Orsis takes command of the Intelligence Department.

Thursday, 02/24/2005:

The Phantom achieves warp 9.25 and holds its heading towards the Damocles.

Thursday, 03/03/2005:

No News This Week.

Thursday, 03/10/2005:

Negotiations continue between Deep Space 12 and Fimlar from Galen III over the prisoner Taklar. A possible life pod is reported on the scanner of the Phantom. Life signs are uncertain, and the power levels on the Damocles are near zero.

Thursday, 03/17/2005:

Lt. Commander N’tran resumes his role as Chief Science Officer, and Lt. T’mal is promoted to the rank of Lt. Commander and the position of First Officer. This is OOC, and does not effect the current storyline as of yet. The Phantom approaches the Damocles and begins extensive scanning.

Thursday, 03/24/2005:

Two biosigns are picked up from an escape pod and are beamed directly to sickbay. A Vulcan is beamed to the sickbay and a human is kept in the transporter buffer.

Thursday, 03/31/2005:

The Vulcan survivor is named Tiev, a diplomatic aide. Lt. Commander N’tran orders the Phantom to reverse course and maintain a safe distance from the Damocles, which does not have enough power for the Warp Core containment field. The Damocles explodes due to antimatter leakage. The Vald prisoners are scheduled for transfer to Starfleet Headquarters. The Galen prisoner, Taklar, is released on the condition that he cooperate with Deep Space 12 security forces. Lt. Orsis finds a connection between the diplomat Tiev and a new civilian Mr. Gott, resident on the station. The gems recovered from the Promenade scuffle have been sent to Science for testing.

Thursday, 04/07/2005:

Lt. Commander Josh Hoss returns to Deep Space 12 to take over the role of Chief of Security. The Phantom begins a two day trip back toward the station as Lt. T'Mal begins to investigate the wreckage of the Damocles.

Thursday, 04/14/2005:

Commander N'tran springs an unexpected, and poorly timed abandon ship drill as the Phantom nears the station.

Thursday, 04/21/2005:

The drill completed, the Phantom resumes course for the station. As the ship draws near it's destination, a quick review of the drill reveals several crew were somewhat lacking in their speed to report to their respective escape pods. Back on the station, the LMH program goes berserk requiring Security and Engineering to report to the Infirmary at once.

Thursday, 04/28/2005:

Lena Womack, Owner, of the Silver Dollar, a new bar on Deep Space 12 has her first day of business. Best of luck to her and we welcome the addition of her creativity. Commander N'tran answers the request for a detailed review of the gems.

Thursday, 05/05/2005:

One of the two remaining survivors of the Damocles has awakened in the Infirmary. The Phantom already docked at the station, repairs and refueling begin as the crew settles back into the routine of station-side life.

Thursday, 05/12/2005:

This sting operation finally comes to a head. Commander N'tran is confronted by the "lone gunman" in the Geology Lab. The man takes a shot at him with an old style projectile weapon, little does the person know just how little this affects a Horta.

Thursday, 05/19/2005:

Work continues in the Infirmary on the LMH program as one of the survivors of the disaster begins speaking with the Doctor and her staff.

Thursday, 05/26/2005:

Commander N'tran and Lt. T'Mal have been beamed to the Security Office. As N'tran secures the gems there, Captain Wozniak calls T'Mal to help with their Vulcan guest in the Infirmary. The Commander and Lt. then walk to the Infirmary.

Thursday, 06/02/2005:

N'tran gets the damage from the shotgun fixed. Ensign Kilaware arrives on a transport ship. Ms. Womack establishes a new dress code for The Silver Dollar.

Thursday, 06/09/2005:

Inexplicably, Commander N'tran starts floating around on the Promenade in grav boots.

Thursday, 06/16/2005:

Ken and T'Mal introduce themselves to Tiev and discuss what happened. Lt. Lehteb reappears to sample The Silver Dollar's wares along with Ensign Bythis and some others.

Thursday, 06/23/2005:

Ensign Malachi (Security Investigations Officer) arrives. Lt. Nispel nearly gets his clock cleaned before realizing it is Sev he's about to take on. The Orion's Belt's new owner Aisling arrives.

Thursday, 06/30/2005:

Ensign Rakka throws N'tran into the brig to sleep off his weird 'condition'. Aisling meets Mr. Gott and they form a solid bond thanks to his cooking. The Shotgun Bandit reappears in the transporter room, demanding to be beamed to the DeForest Kelley shipyard. When Ensign Black refuses... he gets shot.

Thursday, 07/07/2005:

SCPO Fellum appears to handle the chase for the Shotgun Bandit (Nitti). Nitti makes plans to get back to Deep Space 12 somehow.

Thursday. 07/14/2005:

Ken asks a surprised T'Mal to assist in convincing Tiev to continue the work of the diplomats. Commander Hoss returns to duty, taking up the chase for the Shotgun Bandit. PO1 Welty joins the chase. The 'reunion' in The Silver Dollar ends. Dr. O'Connor responds to the emergency in the transporter room and takes David Black to be patched up. T'Mal forms a relationship with Tiev (on more than one level), and succeeds in convincing him to do the job. He sets off on his way. Ms. Womack begins picking through her Uncle Juan's logs. Nitti finds a worker bee and sets off back to the station.

Thursday, 07/21/2005:

Ensign Azarlin warns the Captain of the approaching worker bee. SCPO Fellum loses the shadow he was chasing thanks to some unhelpful (or not very bright) workers. Ms. Womack is forced to deal with a degenerate trying to use her holosuites for something unsavory.

Thursday, 07/28/2005:

The occupant of the worker bee is detained in docking pylon 2 by security staff. Aisling payed Lena a visit in the Silver Dollar.

Thursday, 08/04/2005:

The fugitive ("Nitti") makes a defiant last stand at docking pylon 2. Lt. Walther attempts to report to Capt. Wozniak, who is otherwise occupied.

Thursday, 08/11/2005:

Azarlin takes an inspired action of transporting everything except 20th-century materials from the hatch area to the brig, incarcerating Nitti and
at the same time relieving him of his shotgun. A mysterious stranger arrives in the Orion Belt. Capt. Wozniak arrives in the brig to see Commander N'tran.

Thursday, 08/18/2005:

The Captain has a talk with his first officer in the brig, alone. The stranger, a Huyperian named Mr. Bornn, reports back to Lena about the Orion's Belt. The report isn't as damning as she'd hoped.

Thursday, 08/25/2005:

Ensign Palanore, the new Strategic Operations officer, has an encounter in the Silver Dollar with a Ferengi from his past, Trong.

Thursday, 09/01/2005:

A bit of confusion ensues over whether Aisling had a meeting with Lena or not. The meeting never took place. The result of Liam's meeting with Trong is an impromptu display of some rather unusual talents, and a weapon thus far unknown to the station's security contingent, or the Captain. The Silver Dollar suddenly manifests an amazing new security system.

Thursday, 09/08/2005:

Ensign Azarlin reports the new energy signatures detected in the Silver Dollar, then heads down to see what is going on. The Norsican bouncer catches Trong and disarms him. Liam is carted off to Security. Lena's Huyperian spy attempts to gain intel on Mr. Gott's Rolls & Rak. Commander N'tran requests lots of rocks for food, to Nitti's amusement.

Thursday, 09/15/2005:

Just as Mr. Bornn tries to gather intel on Gott's shop, Mr. Gott tries to gather intel on the incident at Lena's bar. Liam is allowed to keep his weapon, on the condition that he informs the Captain immediately, and is thus released from Security on his own cognizance. The Captain revokes N'Tran's role as XO, but lets him keep his rank. Ensign Danni Kilaware (acting Chief Counselor) arrives on the station. She has her first chat with Commander N'tran.

Thursday, 09/22/2005:

Ensign Kilaware learns a thing or two about Commander N'tran as she tries to talk to him, while Nitti wonders if he could get a 'session' with her. PO Welty arranges for some ore to be delivered to the Horta. Mr. Gott tempts Ensign Palanore with some accurately-selected foods for their first encounter. Ms. Womack's holosuites start to get lively with a new program based on her security system's Gorns. The recently upgraded LMH re-activates, attempting a little humor along the way. It fails to impress Ensign Black, who is still bed-bound from his near-fatal encounter with the shotgun. The LMH and the CMO release Ensign Black to light duties following an excellent recovery. Lt. Lehteb receives a mystery message from the Delta quadrant. N'tran drifts off to sleep and keeps Nitti awake all night.

Thursday, 09/29/2005:

Two of the 'precious stones' previously thought to be fake turn out to be cuts from something called the Vulcan's Glory, and Nitti was attempting to secure them for the Romulans as revenge. Nitti attempts to con Ensign Kilaware into letting him out of his cell for a moment. N'tran tells her what he has been doing through the night. He also reveals his position as First Officer has been revoked.

Thursday, 10/06/2005:

Commander Hoss tries the Silver Dollar to see how it matches its reputation. After N'tran offers to go grav-boot-flying with Danni, she wonders if he actually likes being in there. The station is penciled in for a Baryon sweep.

Thursday, 10/13/2005:

N'tran reveals the extent of the failure in the Damocles rescue mission. Nitti thinks Danni 'likes him'. Ensign Black tries the Rolls & Rak, and takes on a special pastry invented by Mr. Gott. As expected, it coats him in jam and cream. N'tran works on his Dyson Sphere project until he has a visitor later.

Thursday, 10/20/2005:

The visitor is Commander Hoss, dropping in for a chat with the former First Officer. Ms. Womack receives all her supply of wine in one hit rather than in several loads, and contacts Engineering for some help shifting it. Trong appears in the brig, and starts making accusations about Ensign Palanore to N'tran. Mr. Gott serves up a new kind of Klingon coffee called 'ik'DeQ' after the insect that grows inside the coffee bean only to get ground up with it to give its unique flavor. Ensign Palanore gets to talk to the Captain about his unique weapon. Ken makes it clear that if the weapon stays out of harm, so will Ensign Palanore. Preparations are made to evacuate the station for the Baryon sweep, sending all non-essential personnel off-station, and getting the rest to the Cutlass for the next two days. Ensign Kilaware becomes the station's Chief Counselor until such times as someone new comes along. WO Smith offers to bunk with T'Mal on the Cutlass, since she has yet to find anyone who can tolerate her. Ensign Kilaware is forced to apologize to Ms. Womack, her roommate, for snoring the night before.

Thursday, 10/27/2005:

Lt. Chandler has a good chat with Chief O'Brien, who has arrived to conduct and supervise the Baryon sweep, in the early hours of the morning. Mr. Gott, now acting cook on the Cutlass for the next two days, serves up breakfast and announces it ship wide, to the concern of several crew.

Thursday, 11/03/2005:

A reasonable queue of people lines up for breakfast, to Gott's delight. Ms. Womack requests an inter-planetary comm's link. N'tran reviews the station's recent operations and continues his Dyson Sphere project. A new bartender called Thad arrives in the breakfast queue and is inevitably caught by Mr. Gott. Meanwhile, Lena has taken to playing cards with some crew in one corner, trying to fleece them. A slight misunderstanding ensues between Thad and some others, but is cooled by Lt. Chandler. Lena appears to have some connections which grant her things most other crew, let alone civilians, would not get, and so gets her comm's link to the geonet. She starts researching details on a place called Slagheap.

Thursday, 11/10/2005:

Lena continues her download of data, being monitored by the bridge officer who was forced to give her the link. A member of the bridge crew suggests to Commander T'Mal, now promoted to fit her new position as First Officer, that providing some sort of game to entertain the crew would help during these cramped two days. T'Mal says she will go consider it, but the bridge crew, especially the Captain, assume nothing good will come of it.

Thursday, 11/17/2005:

Word starts to circulate that T'Mal may be organizing something. Ensign Woodman retrieves Ensign Bythis' cat Lucy from Engineering, but apparently the
cat didn't like that too much and got its revenge. T'Mal hails the crew and request a meeting in Engineering at 10:30 hours to introduce her 'leisure activity'.
The turnout is only 'respectable'.

Thursday, 11/24/2005:

Captain Wozniak goes to breakfast with Captain Price, and some more crew gather in that spot to be introduced.

Thursday, 12/01/2005:

T'Mal explains the game and how it will work, then dismisses the gamers. The gamers start to form teams, or disappear off on their own.

Thursday, 12/08/2005:

N'tran explains that he cannot 'see' without using a tricorder, and requests that he be allowed to use it on 'seeing' mode only. T'Mal agrees, logically. He makes some calculations on what areas of the ship are off-limits, and thus starts searching. Liam and Lena formed a team and start searching in Engineering itself, whereas most people wrongly assumed that since the containers were beamed out, they wouldn't be there. N'tran makes a thorough check of the torpedo bays, cargo bays and shuttle bays. He is rewarded by finding a canister on top of a shuttle. Liam attempts to use his remote viewing capability to find containers, to no avail. Ensign Tarrasque begins his tour of duty and immediately finds something to alert the Captain about. Ensign Kilaware and her co-hunter are gatecrashed by Commander N'tran, but for some weird reason they hide rather than continue. Lena and Liam explore an air vent up near the roof of Engineering, and are rewarded by a second canister on a nearby ledge. They decide to try the makeshift holodeck next.

Thursday, 12/15/2005:

N'tran checks more rooms in his determined search, then goes for lunch. He accidentally bumps a table, and the occupant bumps their knee on something. It turns out to be a third canister.

Thursday, 12/22/2005:

Ensign Bythis finds what she thinks is a game canister in a toilet's tank, but it is not what she thinks. Nobody thinks otherwise, since you don't suspect contraband when you're looking for canisters for a game. Mr. Gott is left to clean up after lunch, although Captain Wozniak at least has the manners to bring his dishes back.

Thursday, 12/29/2005:

Lena tries to search the science labs but is caught looking and suspected of theft. It only takes a few moments to remind the person there's a treasure hunt going on. N'Tran completes his search and considers his two finds a good job. No more canisters have been found. He goes back to work on his Dyson Sphere project. Lena chooses a cupboard she's NOT supposed to go into, and gets challenged. She is deemed to be up to no good and Security are called.
